Who says boys hate flowers?
Simeon did not think the day would have led him to shooting flowers in the park. During his interview with his YOT (Youth Offending Team) officer, he was given several options to complete the hours mandated by the court. He chose to spend his time creatively. Like many young people the idea of participating in creative projects is seen as an easier option that requires little or no effort. Whilst some young people resist the challenges faced within creative and informal learning, others embrace the idea of exploring different segments of self often gathering direction and inspiration from the natural world. This work is currently being used methodologically as a reflexive tool, documenting the experiences of socially marginalised youths as they interact with creativity. Specifically, the work denotes the impact and effects of nature's imposition on notions of identity and culture.
