Since the aim of the conference is to explore the boundaries and relations between societies and the natural world, I choose to present photographs by using binary compositions of, on one side, natural elements and, on the other side, human beings or artefacts. The images present these two elements sometimes in a way that both of them seem to cohabit almost without relation with each other and sometimes by depicting natural elements that have been reshaped to fit into the human space. The lack of attention given to the integration of natural elements in urban planning (or in the integration of urbanity in nature) is everywhere striking. The lack of environment consciousness though dealing with mental or cultural aspects, translate itself in the environment and therefore visual means can efficiently depict it.
